Join this walking tour and explore the “village” of Soho to hear the impact and influence of the medical men who cared for the many diverse peoples who lived and worked in this fascinating and perhaps little-known part of London by discovering their homes, hospitals and churches.

  • Hear how the 17th & 18th-century newcomers brought their own language, restaurants and hospitals to London
  • See the buildings which became the first specialist hospitals
  • Learn about William and John Hunter – leading surgeons whose anatomy school was in Soho
  • Visit the pub of John Snow, the pioneer doctor who traced the source of cholera

 

Sue Weir

The tour will be led by Sue Weir, a former Westminster Hospital nurse and a registered Blue Badge Guide. She developed a special interest in medical history and enjoys taking groups and individuals to places of medical historical interest both at home and abroad.
